Six

There's something about six - it's soo grown up. We had a fun party with lots of young children - treasure hunts, chocolate games & pass the parcel.

The 21 Challenge - have been plodding away at this. Using the quotes as inspiration for journaling. They have challenged me to think of what my dreams actually are, the choices I have, what difficulties & challenges can mean if viewed right & used appropriately for growth and about using words creatively and the importance of journaling my thoughts.

A couple of things - check out the cyber crop in the forum at the Scrapbook Outlet.
There's also a couple of challenges happening there - a weekly one (scrap your summer pics) for a SOS kit & blurry pics for the June comp.

Huge Congrats to Beverly for the design comp @ memories-revisited.

& have a go at the June comp @ Scrapbook Essentials.

Big weekend down here - Winter Fest opening tonight - too cold to take the children out to watch what would have been stunning fire works - Jase is @ Youth group so didn't want to take all three on my own at night time. We have the Parade tomorrow so have to be off bright & early to dress the Playcentre float - it's Queenstown Playcentre's 50th birthday so we are doing a 'happy birthday' float in celebration. I'm so not into public displays but if we want grants & funding we need to have a 'face' in community events! I'll be donning the thermals though only saying -3 tonight rather than -5 so might not be soo bad - the weather report said the frost should go around midday!!!!! Posted by Picasa

6 is a special age! It goes all too fast!! Was dad responsible for the stylish cake?
Hope you don't freeze at the parade today! Thankfully the weather has improved to a sunny day here [out of the wind].

I remember kayaking in winter while it was snowing and thinking yep, there is a difference between 5-7 layers of thermals! Hope it gets a bit warmer for you soon.

I know it's cold but it must be beautiful down there at the moment.
Can't wait for the cybercrop. I hope to get some scrapping done and not procrastinate.

As the mother of a six year old I really think that six marks the passing of one phase (even though they go to school when they turn 5 it's takes til 6 for me to condifer them to be truly a school kid). As AA Milne said "So I think I'll be six now forever and ever".

Purging

The stuff can take over.  My stuff was covering my work surface and much of the bedroom floor.  I had to do a big sort out. I was brutal.   Stuff...ready to go. I packaged it in some storage totes I had that needed a new home (I’m waiting for my new CTMH travel system to arrive) and listed it on s local trading site.  It’s gone now. It doesn’t look pretty but I have a desk space and things are organised. The rest of my supplies now fit in this cupboard. Since the ‘purge’ I have had the space to create.  It feels good and it’s great to be able to get to my desk. A few pages made since the tidy up...and a box of 20 cards!

Cheese Rolls

Spread sliced bread with Cheese Spread (see below). Roll up. Toast in oven & serve hot. These may be frozen and heated when required! cheese spread: 1pkt onion soup; 500g tasty cheese - grated; a 400g tin of evaporated milk; Put all ingredients in a saucepan and heat slowly until cheese melts and mixture thickens. Stir well. When cool store in jars in the fridge for sandwhiches etc or put in your cheese rolls! Yep, the Up2Scrap Elite Design team has been announced - soo privileged & excited to be a part of it. Congrats to Donna , Rach , Lianne , Trina & Sue & thanks Steph & Jo for the opportunity:-) We have been in Invercargill overnight - nice to get away even if it is only for a night! We went to Queens Park & the Museum/Art Gallery today & the Art Gallery Cafe served these cheese rolls -yum! Such a lower South Island thing - but soo good!

digital scrapbooking

I have been asked by a couple of friends via facebook about digital scrapbooking...what it is, how to and some sites etc. I thought I'd put a post here about it and send them here (just click on the purple coloured words and you'll head to the site I'm talking about). Essentially digital scrapbooking is using digital 'elements' to create scrapbook pages all on your computer, they can be saved as jpegs and printed on your home printer or through a photo developer, or you can just save them to a disc & can share them easily via email, flickr or even facebook! OK, design software, I use gimp because it's free! You can download trials of photoshop , photoshop elements and Creative Suite if you think you might like to purchase some slightly more user friendly software...There are other software options, but photoshop seems to be a main one. Edited to add: Quick pages.... basically the page is made for you and you just put your photo into it....check out this...
