Ethans Party

My baby is turning three on April Fools Day! I put these together last night (typical me - running late for my own son's birthday). We only decided what to actually do at the time I needed to write in them. He has a couple of friends & his cousins coming along with his sisters & Granny - not sure about Pa - Nana & Grandad live a bit far but I'm sure they would have loved to be here. I hadn't sanded patterned paper before but gave it a go after adhering some to some chipboard - quite enjoyed it. You can't quite see it here but I inked the edges of the green card with brown. It looked a bit plain so I wrote some stuff about Ethan & the purpose of the invite around the three. I'm not really a card maker - but I enjoyed this one - it's definitely a 'scrappers card' but I think I'll be distressing more patterned paper in the near future! It's funny how some scrappers (like me) struggle with the whole card thing where as people who started with making cards are able to move between the two a bit easier - or is this just my perception of things? Love to know what you think.

Thats great Lara, I love your handwriting, yeah distressing paper is fun. Have you ever tried screwing paper up until its soft and wrinkled for an old worn effect on a layout, thats fun too, if you do it to black paper then rub some metallic rub-ons over the top, you could swear it looks like leather. I was introduced to scrapping but the Creative Memories way, I couldn't get into it at first and didn't know much about scrapping shops and all the awesome papers. So I ventured into cardmaking and rubber stamping, now Scrapping is my passion and I only seem to make cards when I have too (usually the night before I need it..lol)I love card-making and its great to use scrap scraps but its just the time to fit 'everything' in!

Looks great Lara! Glad I'm not the only one racing around on party invites at the last minute!
I'm not really a card maker either but recently handmade one for mum & she was really touched by it. Must make more of an effort! Trouble is I'm always running borderline with everyone's birthdays!!

Love this card Lara, very cool. I know what you mean about the card thing, I struggle to make cards, yet can put a LO together in minutes.

Love the Big 3 card .. how many invites??
I find it harder to make cards simply because they're designed to be given away!! What if the recipient doesn't appreciate what I've done??? (I'm making them for Someone else, not for Me ...)

hey lara you are not running late its not the 1st yet. The cards look great. I was thinking that maybe each time I do a LO I should use the leftovers for cards but not being a cardmaker it hasn't happened yet.

What a great card. Happy birthday Ethan. I used to feel funny about cards, but now just think hey, I put effort into this and that's all that matters. And its been fun giving them away. As for lateness. I'm usually making them as I run out the door to the party! LOL. You're doing great.

I know the new papers are hard to get, so just yell out. There is a competition on at the mo and anyone can enter, email me for details if you are interested.

Purging

The stuff can take over.  My stuff was covering my work surface and much of the bedroom floor.  I had to do a big sort out. I was brutal.   Stuff...ready to go. I packaged it in some storage totes I had that needed a new home (I’m waiting for my new CTMH travel system to arrive) and listed it on s local trading site.  It’s gone now. It doesn’t look pretty but I have a desk space and things are organised. The rest of my supplies now fit in this cupboard. Since the ‘purge’ I have had the space to create.  It feels good and it’s great to be able to get to my desk. A few pages made since the tidy up...and a box of 20 cards!

my week so far...

This week is turning out great!  Having time on Monday (Otago Anniversary Day) to scrap with Lynley was just the best beginning!  Lynley was putting together some beginner class stuff that she intends to do soon – it looked great!  I got home to an email from The Scrapbook Outlet NZ asking if I would be a casual/oncall designer for their Design Team – of course I accepted – can’t wait to learn from Rach , Donna & Shani!  Then today I get an email from Jo (subeditor @ Up2Scrap ) accepting one of my submissions – I did send a few mind you so as you can imagine I’m buzzing!  I have packaged the LO ready to send tomorrow after Playcentre. Need to get back to reality though – Mum & Dad’s 50th Birthday this weekend, have to work out what I’m going to say, sort some table decorations & not to mention some way of sharing pictures of them when I only have Friday night & Saturday to do it!  Have to do some Playcentre Admin work this ev...
