Up2Scrap and change of roles at work

Picked up this issue at Whitcoulls yesterday - cool comp if you buy it at Whitcoulls at the moment too...
My girls have a page each in this issue, they loved seeing their layouts about dad in print when I showed it to them last night. Thanks Up2Scrap :-)

I signed the papers yesterday at work to take on a 'roll growth' new entrant class till the end of this school year, start in a week's time! Very exciting and daunting, not much time to get organised...have two school visits this week with some of my class coming in.

What do you remember from your new entrant class?

I especially remember 'Where the Wild things are' by Maurice Sendak because my teacher (Miss Potvine) did a corner of the room up like the land of the wild things...hanging vines and all!

I had a quick flick through Up2Scrap at the bookstore the other day, just looking for names I recognised ;-) Saw your kids' pages, they're great!! Definitely have their Mum's talent :-)

Sounds like your school is growing like ours ... they have just opened their 9th new entrant class and Tyler (who starts next term) won't even get into that one as it will be full by then! Lots of 5 year olds around at the moment, it seems. Good luck with the new job, it sounds like it will be fun. Term 4 is always more relaxed anyway (at least it seems that way to the parents, LOL).

I saw your girls' l/o in there - very cool. I remember how Colin felt when his l/o appeared in one of the Aus magazines

Congrats to your girls! :)

Don't remember too much about my first classroom, except the teacher had made a name tag for me. :)

Oh I saw that a few weeks ago and saw teh layout, very cool. Thats exciting news about the new role, am so excited for you. Eeeeks having problems remembering that far back lol. However from more recent times as a student teacher, cushions and big ones at that and a book corner. Washing lines going across the class with the childrens work on it.

A games corner, with board games and alphabet games and math games etc etc.

Purging

The stuff can take over.  My stuff was covering my work surface and much of the bedroom floor.  I had to do a big sort out. I was brutal.   Stuff...ready to go. I packaged it in some storage totes I had that needed a new home (I’m waiting for my new CTMH travel system to arrive) and listed it on s local trading site.  It’s gone now. It doesn’t look pretty but I have a desk space and things are organised. The rest of my supplies now fit in this cupboard. Since the ‘purge’ I have had the space to create.  It feels good and it’s great to be able to get to my desk. A few pages made since the tidy up...and a box of 20 cards!

Cheese Rolls

Spread sliced bread with Cheese Spread (see below). Roll up. Toast in oven & serve hot. These may be frozen and heated when required! cheese spread: 1pkt onion soup; 500g tasty cheese - grated; a 400g tin of evaporated milk; Put all ingredients in a saucepan and heat slowly until cheese melts and mixture thickens. Stir well. When cool store in jars in the fridge for sandwhiches etc or put in your cheese rolls! Yep, the Up2Scrap Elite Design team has been announced - soo privileged & excited to be a part of it. Congrats to Donna , Rach , Lianne , Trina & Sue & thanks Steph & Jo for the opportunity:-) We have been in Invercargill overnight - nice to get away even if it is only for a night! We went to Queens Park & the Museum/Art Gallery today & the Art Gallery Cafe served these cheese rolls -yum! Such a lower South Island thing - but soo good!

digital scrapbooking

I have been asked by a couple of friends via facebook about digital scrapbooking...what it is, how to and some sites etc. I thought I'd put a post here about it and send them here (just click on the purple coloured words and you'll head to the site I'm talking about). Essentially digital scrapbooking is using digital 'elements' to create scrapbook pages all on your computer, they can be saved as jpegs and printed on your home printer or through a photo developer, or you can just save them to a disc & can share them easily via email, flickr or even facebook! OK, design software, I use gimp because it's free! You can download trials of photoshop , photoshop elements and Creative Suite if you think you might like to purchase some slightly more user friendly software...There are other software options, but photoshop seems to be a main one. Edited to add: Quick pages.... basically the page is made for you and you just put your photo into it....check out this...
