From the Kitchen

Recently 4 people from our church celebrated birthdays so I finally had a go at making a rainbow cake. I did use a vanilla cake mix and just added the colours. I made the lemon butter cream icing from scratch. The white outside makes the bright inside all the more exciting for people to cut into.

The kids have taken a night each for cooking. Katya has taken on the 'pasta' chef role and this is the second time she has made our pasta from scratch. Love that we can use eggs from our hens (Dotti, Daisy & Firey) and I like that we can make it with wholemeal flour or stoneground flour to make it a little more natural than store bough stuff. As well as the pasta the kids have made meatballs, spag bol, baked potatoes and vegetable slice. Alicia is doing food technology at the Hilton through school at the moment and is loving what she learned. She made a pizza last week - blue cheese, purple onions and smoked chicken - the chef was surprised at her choices. She's loved blue cheese since she was just over 1!

wow that cake look fantastic....I bet all who ate it loved it and what a lovely idea to make it. Now pasta from scratch is another thing I have not done, maybe that needs to be another challenge I set myself. However Mike is doing an egg free diet at the moment, so that may have to go on the back burner for a bit.

Wow blue cheese is something I am not a fan of, so I am always impressed when a young person will eat it, and er pizza toppings sounded yummy, other than the blue cheese lol

Purging

The stuff can take over.  My stuff was covering my work surface and much of the bedroom floor.  I had to do a big sort out. I was brutal.   Stuff...ready to go. I packaged it in some storage totes I had that needed a new home (I’m waiting for my new CTMH travel system to arrive) and listed it on s local trading site.  It’s gone now. It doesn’t look pretty but I have a desk space and things are organised. The rest of my supplies now fit in this cupboard. Since the ‘purge’ I have had the space to create.  It feels good and it’s great to be able to get to my desk. A few pages made since the tidy up...and a box of 20 cards!

my week so far...

This week is turning out great!  Having time on Monday (Otago Anniversary Day) to scrap with Lynley was just the best beginning!  Lynley was putting together some beginner class stuff that she intends to do soon – it looked great!  I got home to an email from The Scrapbook Outlet NZ asking if I would be a casual/oncall designer for their Design Team – of course I accepted – can’t wait to learn from Rach , Donna & Shani!  Then today I get an email from Jo (subeditor @ Up2Scrap ) accepting one of my submissions – I did send a few mind you so as you can imagine I’m buzzing!  I have packaged the LO ready to send tomorrow after Playcentre. Need to get back to reality though – Mum & Dad’s 50th Birthday this weekend, have to work out what I’m going to say, sort some table decorations & not to mention some way of sharing pictures of them when I only have Friday night & Saturday to do it!  Have to do some Playcentre Admin work this ev...
