not paper

The kids and I worked on some gifts this weekend.

We made stuff.
We made soap.
We made bath balls.
We found recipes.
We planned.
We mixed.
We learned about saponification and about acids and bases.
We have plans to make more.

Thats awesome Lara. You are miles ahead of me. I have only played with melt and pour bases or rebatched soap while making a liquid hand soap or my attempt at a shampoo bar.

A good book I would recommend if you haven't already read it is "Soap Naturally" by Patrizia Garzena and Marina Tadiello.

Your Castille soap looks stunning :-)

ooo I'd like to make castile soap. Was it hard? Bit nervous about the caustic nature of some of this stuff.

Hi Penny, I followed Wendyl's recipe in her home companion book. wore gloves, face mask & safety goggles, kids thought that was funny. trickiest bit was getting the oils and caustic mix to 38 degrees, also, go hand beater all the way when mixing the two together if you can!
