Sketchbook Olympics & Snow

A competition not to be missed... check out the forum at Sketchbook New Zealand for details!

The kids built this snowman on Thursday evening.... Schools were cancelled on Friday & this morning we woke to even more snow... but then it rained :-(

I created this using the Scrapbook Outlet's August Kit... it's a little booklet for recording messages and notes between me and the girls. below are some shots of the inside of it :-)

I've had a cold all week... would like it to go away now!
Enjoy your weekend/week... till next time....

p.s. loving being back at school teaching and have some very cool classes.... really loving numeracy too!

What a cool idea to make a book with the notes.
And sorry to say I don't really 'get' it with the numeracy love but do understand due to my maths loving boy! He's been on some site doing Maths olympics this week!

me neither with the numeracy thing ;)

Lovely work Lara :)
I love that little notebook - just gorgeous. It looks almost too beautiful to use. :) Are you doing the Numeracy Project? I'm lead teacher at my school for Maths and am absolutely passionate about it. Trained in ENP/ANP about 7 years ago.

love the notebook. The photo of the snowman made me smile. I used to be afraid of numeracy but I really enjoyed teaching this. So pleased to read you are enjoying the job and teaching again.

Purging

The stuff can take over.  My stuff was covering my work surface and much of the bedroom floor.  I had to do a big sort out. I was brutal.   Stuff...ready to go. I packaged it in some storage totes I had that needed a new home (I’m waiting for my new CTMH travel system to arrive) and listed it on s local trading site.  It’s gone now. It doesn’t look pretty but I have a desk space and things are organised. The rest of my supplies now fit in this cupboard. Since the ‘purge’ I have had the space to create.  It feels good and it’s great to be able to get to my desk. A few pages made since the tidy up...and a box of 20 cards!

Cheese Rolls

Spread sliced bread with Cheese Spread (see below). Roll up. Toast in oven & serve hot. These may be frozen and heated when required! cheese spread: 1pkt onion soup; 500g tasty cheese - grated; a 400g tin of evaporated milk; Put all ingredients in a saucepan and heat slowly until cheese melts and mixture thickens. Stir well. When cool store in jars in the fridge for sandwhiches etc or put in your cheese rolls! Yep, the Up2Scrap Elite Design team has been announced - soo privileged & excited to be a part of it. Congrats to Donna , Rach , Lianne , Trina & Sue & thanks Steph & Jo for the opportunity:-) We have been in Invercargill overnight - nice to get away even if it is only for a night! We went to Queens Park & the Museum/Art Gallery today & the Art Gallery Cafe served these cheese rolls -yum! Such a lower South Island thing - but soo good!

digital scrapbooking

I have been asked by a couple of friends via facebook about digital scrapbooking...what it is, how to and some sites etc. I thought I'd put a post here about it and send them here (just click on the purple coloured words and you'll head to the site I'm talking about). Essentially digital scrapbooking is using digital 'elements' to create scrapbook pages all on your computer, they can be saved as jpegs and printed on your home printer or through a photo developer, or you can just save them to a disc & can share them easily via email, flickr or even facebook! OK, design software, I use gimp because it's free! You can download trials of photoshop , photoshop elements and Creative Suite if you think you might like to purchase some slightly more user friendly software...There are other software options, but photoshop seems to be a main one. Edited to add: Quick pages.... basically the page is made for you and you just put your photo into it....check out this...
