Homemade Cleaners

At harvest festival time my sister and mum were visiting and we happened to run out of laundry powder. She had picked up some washing soda from bin inn on the way through and we had some sunlight soap sitting in the cupboard....so my sister set to work making me some laundry liquid...it's not really liquid, more a kind of gloop. But it works. Yesterday I made another batch armed with all the ingredients that Wendyl suggests in her recipe. Borax was the only thing I didn't really have on hand but the pharmacy supplied some. My sister doesn't use the borax in hers and it works but mum does and hers works too...for now I'll just follow the recipe. I have just made up some multipurpose spray using baking soda, lavendar oil and a little dish liquid. I am trying to sort out a place to keep the base ingredients handy for replenishing when I run out. So easy, so inexpensive and better for our family in relation to the chemicals found in the bought ones! Right back to cleaning up my cleaning products - getting rid of the empties...working out what delights to make next! Thanks Anna & thanks Wendyl!

Scrapbookers....I'm really hoping we can have enough interest and people keen to be involved in running a spring retreat in Queenstown because Janine is keen to run a workshop on natural beauty products with us - we would be able to give them as gifts afterwards if we could handle letting them go! Please register your interest in the retreat at the Scrap Retreat Blog and share any ideas/suggestions for this too. I really want to go to Janine's workshop but need the interest and involvement to make it happen!

Whooo hoooo for gloop. I think the biggest thing is going from a powder to a gloopy type mixture. The clothes do feel better as does the environment for using a less chemical based mixture.

Lara, thanks for the plug :-) I would love to be able to share what I know with a group of lovely ladies.

Purging

The stuff can take over.  My stuff was covering my work surface and much of the bedroom floor.  I had to do a big sort out. I was brutal.   Stuff...ready to go. I packaged it in some storage totes I had that needed a new home (I’m waiting for my new CTMH travel system to arrive) and listed it on s local trading site.  It’s gone now. It doesn’t look pretty but I have a desk space and things are organised. The rest of my supplies now fit in this cupboard. Since the ‘purge’ I have had the space to create.  It feels good and it’s great to be able to get to my desk. A few pages made since the tidy up...and a box of 20 cards!

my week so far...

This week is turning out great!  Having time on Monday (Otago Anniversary Day) to scrap with Lynley was just the best beginning!  Lynley was putting together some beginner class stuff that she intends to do soon – it looked great!  I got home to an email from The Scrapbook Outlet NZ asking if I would be a casual/oncall designer for their Design Team – of course I accepted – can’t wait to learn from Rach , Donna & Shani!  Then today I get an email from Jo (subeditor @ Up2Scrap ) accepting one of my submissions – I did send a few mind you so as you can imagine I’m buzzing!  I have packaged the LO ready to send tomorrow after Playcentre. Need to get back to reality though – Mum & Dad’s 50th Birthday this weekend, have to work out what I’m going to say, sort some table decorations & not to mention some way of sharing pictures of them when I only have Friday night & Saturday to do it!  Have to do some Playcentre Admin work this ev...
