Sewing Skirts & Lightscribe

I used the previously posted skirt 'tutorial'' to make the girls a skirt each last night.  They are very happy with them (love that they don't notice their mum isn't too good on inserting zips).

Last night I also discovered how nice Lightscribe is when labelling discs - I only did writing on it but next will try to add an image.  They look heaps nicer than writing on them with black vivid.  We've had the capabilities for about 6 years as our computer DVD drive has Lightscribe built in.  We just hadn't used it.  You can get coloured discs and gold discs which could be lots of fun.  Basically the laser that writes the images or info to the disc is then used to put the label on the disc (you have to turn the disc over so the laser can work on the label side of the disc).

I'm almost ready for the school term to begin, spent some time in my class today putting things back after the cleaners have been through and have a few loose ends to tie up to be ready for the week ahead.  I am going to try to do my planning on google docs this term to try to eliminate the paper clutter that always seems to surround me!

You've done a great job with the girls skirts Lara, and they look proud to be wearing them. I am hoping to get into a lot more sewing again too, especially since we have a grandbaby on the way.

Purging

The stuff can take over.  My stuff was covering my work surface and much of the bedroom floor.  I had to do a big sort out. I was brutal.   Stuff...ready to go. I packaged it in some storage totes I had that needed a new home (I’m waiting for my new CTMH travel system to arrive) and listed it on s local trading site.  It’s gone now. It doesn’t look pretty but I have a desk space and things are organised. The rest of my supplies now fit in this cupboard. Since the ‘purge’ I have had the space to create.  It feels good and it’s great to be able to get to my desk. A few pages made since the tidy up...and a box of 20 cards!

Cheese Rolls

Spread sliced bread with Cheese Spread (see below). Roll up. Toast in oven & serve hot. These may be frozen and heated when required! cheese spread: 1pkt onion soup; 500g tasty cheese - grated; a 400g tin of evaporated milk; Put all ingredients in a saucepan and heat slowly until cheese melts and mixture thickens. Stir well. When cool store in jars in the fridge for sandwhiches etc or put in your cheese rolls! Yep, the Up2Scrap Elite Design team has been announced - soo privileged & excited to be a part of it. Congrats to Donna , Rach , Lianne , Trina & Sue & thanks Steph & Jo for the opportunity:-) We have been in Invercargill overnight - nice to get away even if it is only for a night! We went to Queens Park & the Museum/Art Gallery today & the Art Gallery Cafe served these cheese rolls -yum! Such a lower South Island thing - but soo good!

a catch up

Spent last night in Invers. We had a family dinner for dh's Nanny. We did a brief shop @ Farmers (none in the Wakatip) & went to Splash Palace this morning & BK for lunch (there's no BK here either!). Here are my 21 Challenge pages for the last three days. The hardest one was the Eleanor Roosevelt quote as I'm not sure what scares me - other than a lingering death while my children are still young, or one of them or dh being harmed in some way but even then I have a faith that gives me hope & assurance of a future. So I decided to apply this to my art or my creating - to try something new each day - even if it scares me. Day 4's quote was a goodie - I find that I make decisions all the time & this confirms that I am 'qualified' to make them. I used the pic of Katya for Day 6 as her blowing dandilion heads across the play area indicates this freedom & exploration of the world around. Watching her reminds me of the beauty & wonder al...
