that twelve step programme

Since a few have asked for it.... pleased I'm not the only one! Here it is:

12-step internet recovery program
1. I will have a cup of coffee in the morning and read my newspaper like I used to, before the Internet.
2. I will eat breakfast with a knife and fork and not with one hand typing.
3. I will get dressed before noon.
4. I will make an attempt to clean the house, wash clothes, and plan dinner before even thinking of the Internet.
5. I will sit down and write a letter to those unfortunate few friends and family that are Internet-deprived.
6. I will call someone on the phone who I cannot contact via the Internet.
7. I will read a book...if I still remember how.
8. I will listen to those around me and their needs and stop telling them to turn the TV down so I can hear the music on the Internet.
9. I will not be tempted during TV commercials to check for email.
10. I will try and get out of the house at least once a week, if it is necessary or not.
11. I will remember that my bank is not forgiving if I forget to balance my checkbook because I was too busy on the Internet.
12. Last, but not least, I will remember that I must go to bed sometime ... and the Internet will always be there tomorrow!

not sure where this came from originally - was sent it in a group :-) but thanks to whoever put it together! So can you work through all 12 steps? LOL

tagged!!!!

7 things....

1. not too hot on housework, in fact really enjoy anything that means I absolutley CAN'T do it!
2. need to get my eyebrows waxed but can never be bothered making the appointment - need a haircut too for that matter!
3. Currently reading a book 'Growing Great Boys' by Ian Grant - have to read non-fiction as can never put fiction down when I start - just have to finish it & find out what happens
4. terrible at remembering birthdays etc. in time to get cards sent FOR the birthday - so slack I didn't even do Cristmas cards last year!
5. spend too much time on the computer (trying to cut back - there's a 12 step programme...)
6. love the rain on a tin/corrugated roof - especially when you are able to lie in bed listening to it - even better if the sheets are fresh on & still crispy!
7. Like it cold better than hot weather wise - you can always put more clothes/layers on but there are only so many you can take off...lucky thing I live down here for that!

& that's it, I'm not tagging anyone but if you want to do it... LMK & I'll put your name in here :-) You just have to 'blog' 7 things about you....

Market RAK

put your names in a bowl..... & Miss 6 & Miss 5 picked out the following names:

Delys & Penny can you please email me (scrappykea at xtra company new zealand) with your postal addys....
Thanks everyone for your ideas - have heaps for next year now!
We checked out the Market day on Saturday - the girls bought themselves a 'doll on a stick' - very marketish.... Ethan bought a magic mushroom - & it had tiny studs on it - I think he just picked the first thing he saw!!! I picked up an old music stand - looks cool with one of the canvas things I had made to sell at the market... might have to keep it LOL.
Back to work today.... I like holidays!
Off to Napier for a Playcentre meeting in the weekend - my first big trip as an Exec member for our Association!

pencil lines

used sketch #28 from pencil lines - really enjoyed doing this! I've done a few lately about reading & books! think I might need a mini album on it at this rate. Guess that's the teacher in me.......

I'm still at the farm. I didn't bring EVERYTHING with me scrap wise but once again am amazed at how with only some of my usual bits so much can be done, guess LESS IS MORE!

direct 'Jack'

over at aussie scrapjacked we were challenged to do an EXACT Jack! came up with this - fun to lift the layout rather than the scrappers style too. The chip flowers & brackets have been heat embossed with a glittery white powder & they look pretty when they reflect light. I used the birds (not only cause they are cute) but also because they seem to carry notions of hope with soaring & flying! Thanks for the jack challenge :-)

Have you checked out the new sketch inspiration site? They are looking for a couple of design team members!

freestyle

Over at Scrapbook Outlet we've set a 'freestyle challenge' - especially for those not at freestyle events this weekend - hope you are all having a blast by the way.... wish I was there too! all that inky, painty, creating - fantastic! Well the challenge can be found here.

freestyle - well what is it? a style that is free....... so anything goes right!
heat - pink heat embossing on the 'swirl' & use of hot pink bling bazzill
rubber transfer - the title was stamped on paper then cut out & adhered, the journaling is in a stamped frame from the first SBO Kit (a Rach design).

& because I had so much fun with this one, I did another!
freestyle - well anything goes :-)
heat - 'summer' - one of the hot days LOL
rubber transfer - my trusty 'photolog' stamp (catslife press - can be found at glamour girl) & the title (summer) again - Andrea at SBO got these in just for a few of us who NEEDED them LOL.

I was 'free' to scrap as we found out last night that there is no space for us at the Arrowtown Market - now why didn't they say on their site that it was full in Feb rather than putting up the .pdf forms in March with no indication of that..... & why didn't they let us know when they received the cheque 3 weeks ago.... no worries :-) we have some other plans LOL & I'm sorted for birthday gifts for the next year! I'll still draw for the RAKS next Saturday evening too :-)

House Sitting is going well - had my first round of chores this morning - feeding the hens, the goat (a kid really & she's soo cute) & the dog. Got an email reminding me to water the tomatoes too. Dad had left the tank for the house water filling & I was to turn it off this morning..... I spent ages following the hose to find the tap to turn it off.... no such luck, considered ringing by Brother In Law in case he knew where it was but checked the water running in (it had a pellet on it) & found the tap on that end of the hose - I must be such a townie! (pleased I found that out before ringing my BIL though!). Hope you are having fun in the heat mum & dad, still really windy here - gales really & sky has 'rain fade'... we purchased charlottes webb so the kids are watching that at the moment....

I hear the winner & runner ups for Get Real will be announced sometime this weekend.... FUN!

Don't forget to get in your votes for this round of Scrapbook Outlet Survivor (when the gallery is up) if you have 100 posts too. There's been a forum survivor challenge & the poll is up at the moment for that too!

knitting

I've wanted to do the knitting thing for a while.... finally did it - initially prompted by Donna Downey's bag & then by some scrapping friends projects too - Mel has done some gorgeous bags that were on her blog a while ago too! I'm not sure why these lines are here sorry with my typing, but you can still read it ! I'm house sitting for mum & dad as they fly out tonight. Was in Dunedin on Wednesday & popped into spotlight where I got these 'knitting machines' for the girls - like the old cotton reel with nails in - but pink/purple & sparkly LOL.

the concentration was intense as you can see (yes Katya's finger is often there..). Alicia has persevered & made quite a long tube - we are going to stuff it & make it into a snake. I did a quick web search for things we could make with these tubes, but didn't find much. I'm thinking finger puppets could be good as it's the right circumference for some fingers :-)
Here's the bags I've made, kind of adapted some patterns to suit (how unusual - me doing something different LOL) but I'm planning on 'felting' the two hanging above but keeping the one below as is.
OK, now I need to get thinking some more about things for this market day next Saturday, thanks heaps for your suggestions - feel free to post more in the relevant posts comments below too as I won't draw some names till next Saturday evening (21 April). Kind of waiting for some parcels - Rural Delivery will slow things though - hope they get here early next week.

I've been pouring over some fabulous entries for the Get Real comp at Scrapbook Outlet & decisions are soo hard when all are fantastic - love that people had the chance to scrap what their lives are like now & the 'real' stuff that goes on for them - kind of fits with a thread at Scrapbook Outlet about scraping ourselves that was brought home to one of the 'survivors' with the recent passing of a loved one. I think the winners of this amazing competition will be announced tonight!

I'm looking forward to seeing the next round of entries for the Survivor comp too! I love food and the challenge of scrapping recipes is right up my alley!

While here I hope to catch up with some friends & to check out the Farmers Market near the trainstation tomorrow, maybe the aquarium, Moana, the beach if it gets warmer (snow on the Maungatua - brrr....), any other ideas? Read in the ODT today that they've been frost fighting back at the Gibbston Valley Wineries - Waitiri was mentioned - they get out the helicopters to try to keep the air circulating & there are big windmil things there too, reads like it was successful.

Aussie Scrap Jack

Over on Aussie Scrapjacked we are given the opportunity to 'jack' AKA 'lift' Erica Glover. I tried to do an exact lift, but I just couldn't - hope it still counts. I ended up lifting the brackets, some raised elements (letters) & kind of twisted the layout around. Love Erica's use of white space so used that to kind of 'frame' the elements & photograph on the page. Hmmm, not sure how much of a lift it is but love that I was able to be inspired by Erica in creating this.

nzdares & RAK

Ok, recently there was a freestyle related dare on No. 8 wired. One of the layouts to lift was by Nic H..... My lift just couldn't be considered 'freestyle' but I love it just the same. Thanks for all the inspiration you provide Nic.
Now off to create a layout about 'my secrets' LOL. I've decided on one....... later.
I've also decided that I'm going to RAK someone for ideas for the market in the previous post - so leave a comment with your suggestions & maybe a link or two & I'll do a draw, maybe 2... from there after the 21st of April (Market day). TIA.

Design Team Work

For the Scrapbook Outlet for March.

Loved doing this double layout - there's a sketch for it in the gallery too if you are looking for some ideas for a double layout. loved using the buttons & getting lots of pics on the page.

Check out the rest here!

Also get posts in the SBO forum up to 100, pm site admin & you'll be able to vote for your two most fave (believe me this bit is hard) layouts in the SBO Survivor competition for two design team members..... a few more challenges to come yet :-)

I've been busy getting some stuff done for a market here that a few of us are having a stall at... any market tips & adivce is much appreciated :-) simple things we can make for sale with minimal cost & not too much time involved would be fantastic! It's for the Arrowtown Autumn Festival.

later.
