3 more working days

till I start at Queenstown Primary as a release teacher in a 0.54 position. Half a teacher LOL. Until then I am releiving at a local Kindergarten - only an 8 minute drive from home which is good considering I filled up with petrol today - my first tank over $100 so I'm not doing too badly there (I don't normally let the car get this empty). Last weekend I worked on the layout below - using more October Afternoon of course. the photo is one we took when up in Marlborough wine region in one of the school holidays last year.
I did the following layout for the first weeks challenge at Scrap In Style TV - had to use two things from a list - I went for rubbish bags and paper towel. Don't you love our pretty blue Southern Lakes rubbish bags? I glimmermisted the paper towel before stitching it to the layout. the rainbow stamp Vicky had designed for one of the SBO kits way back when was a perfect addition... with some watercolour crayons from Stampin Up (I just got a cool roller stamp from SU today...It is lines with dotted lines in the centre - beginning writer lines... hoping the kids will do a handwriting sampler for me tomorrow with it).

This card and envie were for a challenge - Project Catwalk Week Two at SIStv - had to use the cellophane outer from some supplies in the creation of a 'green' card and had to create a matching envelope using newspaper.

in response to the challenges

I was 'dared' to take inspiration from a fashion mag page & make it about winter... took the simplicity of a single figure on the page and the grid like pattern of the tiles and put them in my layout. Happy 50th dare No. 8 Wired. Have a few more ideas on this one... will see if I get them done though.
materials: Stampin Up notebook designer series paper; Fancy Pants felt snowflake, MM rub ons and I cut the title from paper scraps using 'red tag sale' in the cuttlebug. On the snowflake I brushed some Jo Sonja's opal dust - love that stuff.

Have you been to Kiwijackmeup lately? They have a jack of Heidi Barclay awaiting your 'jacking' and I think you have till Friday 25th to do it... but don't quote me on it. From heidi's layout I used the arrow and the 'collection' of items around a corner as well as a frame of patterned paper around the photo.
materials: white cardstock lightly sprayed with antique rose glimmermist which was in the June Scrapbook Outletnz Kit; Heidi Swapp lettering - yes I added tombow so these would stay stuck; Sassafrass Lass arrow, Stampin Up bird stamp, Rubbadubba doo fantail stamp (on acetate then adhered to the page) and Some Sassa paper cut out and stickers. Used some paper scraps for the frame around the photo.

Sketchbook NZ - this was created in a response to a challenge by Laura Vegas... to use ribbon and flowers in a layout. I used my fave Elsie rainbow ribbon (want more of this) and I stamped flowers onto acetate then cut them out for my flowers. The wooden bit outside the dark green shaped edge is my floor - not part of the layout!
materials: Making Memories Passport paper from one of the Scrapbook Outlet NZ kits, White Bazzill, Elsie rainbow ribbon, Ki cardstock letter stickers, October Afternoon journaling block and acetate flowers (close up below) that I'd stamped and then cut around. I used an MM brad in the centre of one of the flowers.

Playing with Prima

Andrea sent some of the Prima range that she just got in store at SBO. Funnily enough both layouts are about clothing belonging to my oldest daughter!

creating

gotta love term break... two posts in one week!
I created fossick using some of the Ki lace paper from Scrapbook Outlet and some scraps from my overflowing pizza box, really enjoyed stamping onto the different textures with some of the big fancy pants swrily stamps that I got at SENZ South last year (was given them after using them for some make & takes I set up for Scrapbook Outlet) I have been busy putting class stuff together for SENZ in Welly later this year over the last couple of days - so sweet and twinkly!

This layout is such 'an everyday moment'. It's in the friday night challenge at Sketchbook which was all about the 'everyday' Nic H style. This story still makes me giggle.

pipecleaners

the dare was to use pipecleaners... initially I was thinking these circles would make great dandilion heads, then flower centres and then they became soft accents on a baby page.

I used some of the new Prima and October Afternoon papers from Scrapbook Outlet NZ - I love pizza boxes. Other bits include some glitter lettering from a past SBO kit & pipecleaners from the kids art box.

Girls are 'creating' and E is getting frustrated that the lego bits won't go together... hmm it's only the end of week one of term break.

CIS

Was fantastic. This term has been soo full on and has brought about many changes for me the chance to get away and just create was brilliant! Here are two layouts I created that are up at the SBO gallery also.

I had my last day at Frankton Playcentre today where I have been working on Wednesdays through this term. They have a parent who is keen to take on the supervising which is fantastic - Playcentre is all about the parents being the teachers! I only have 2 days left at Queenstown Playcentre where I have been involved for the last 5 years - Ethan was about 5 weeks old when we first went - it was a life saver for a mum with three children under three and as the centre needed a trained supervisor I did the training & then even did a grad. diploma in ECE teaching (already had a dip in teaching -primary) as I needed to understand this whole Early Childhood Thing. For the last 3 years I have worked five mornings a week 9- 12:30 during school terms at Playcentre and now that Ethan is at school it's time for me to go back too. I was unsucessful in two jobs I applied for at Queenstown Primary (not the school my three go to) but had decided to go releiving next term any way so I can get back into it. I accepted a 2 week releiving position for the Head Teacher at a Kindergarten and the next day was asked by the principal of the school that I had been unsucessful with if he could meet with me as something had come up that he thought I might be interested in. Within 2 .5 hours I was back in town for an interview. He phoned back this morning to say I had the job - I'm rapt. It's a 0.5 position a couple of hours every morning to release reading recovery teachers (I'm teaching numeracy in their classes) and right through till 3pm one afternoon (not sure which one yet). Perfect as I can still go swimming at lunch time a couple of times a week - I had worked up to 1.5 Km swims 3 times a week but got the flu and it's hard to breathe at the best of times let alone to breathe when swimming... so i haven't been as regularly for a couple of weeks. Hope to go tomorrow.

Sad day today though as I went to the funeral of one of our Playcentre boys who drowned while on holiday overseas. So sad. Only 3. heart breaking.
