Yay!

After a full on last weekend putting together an oral presentation for a job interview and an interview that I walked away from feeling very unsuccessfull, two sleepless nights waking thinking of what I 'should have said' in answer to the various questions I was phoned last night to be offered a teaching position on the Remarkables Primary School foundation team - a brand new school opening next year for year 1 and 2's and in mid year the year 3 & 4's then in 2011 the year 5 & 6's with it being a full primary in 2012.

I have been teaching part time and more recently in a roll growth new entrant class at Queenstown Primary which I am thoroughly enjoying. It is reassuring to go into the next year with some job security. It will be a full on year with the school gradually opening and still being in various stages of completion but a fun challenge. The learning spaces, specifically designed tables and no teacher desks in classrooms, whiteboard also cupboard for teaching stations (lap top, resources etc) are innovative and space saving and I'm looking forward to seeing it all come together.

Congratulations! However, I think you will need a teacher desk at some point

the teachers desks are in rooms between the classes...so there is a desk for me, just not in class - I normally work at children's tables during class time anyway :-)

Purging

The stuff can take over.  My stuff was covering my work surface and much of the bedroom floor.  I had to do a big sort out. I was brutal.   Stuff...ready to go. I packaged it in some storage totes I had that needed a new home (I’m waiting for my new CTMH travel system to arrive) and listed it on s local trading site.  It’s gone now. It doesn’t look pretty but I have a desk space and things are organised. The rest of my supplies now fit in this cupboard. Since the ‘purge’ I have had the space to create.  It feels good and it’s great to be able to get to my desk. A few pages made since the tidy up...and a box of 20 cards!

Cheese Rolls

Spread sliced bread with Cheese Spread (see below). Roll up. Toast in oven & serve hot. These may be frozen and heated when required! cheese spread: 1pkt onion soup; 500g tasty cheese - grated; a 400g tin of evaporated milk; Put all ingredients in a saucepan and heat slowly until cheese melts and mixture thickens. Stir well. When cool store in jars in the fridge for sandwhiches etc or put in your cheese rolls! Yep, the Up2Scrap Elite Design team has been announced - soo privileged & excited to be a part of it. Congrats to Donna , Rach , Lianne , Trina & Sue & thanks Steph & Jo for the opportunity:-) We have been in Invercargill overnight - nice to get away even if it is only for a night! We went to Queens Park & the Museum/Art Gallery today & the Art Gallery Cafe served these cheese rolls -yum! Such a lower South Island thing - but soo good!

a catch up

Spent last night in Invers. We had a family dinner for dh's Nanny. We did a brief shop @ Farmers (none in the Wakatip) & went to Splash Palace this morning & BK for lunch (there's no BK here either!). Here are my 21 Challenge pages for the last three days. The hardest one was the Eleanor Roosevelt quote as I'm not sure what scares me - other than a lingering death while my children are still young, or one of them or dh being harmed in some way but even then I have a faith that gives me hope & assurance of a future. So I decided to apply this to my art or my creating - to try something new each day - even if it scares me. Day 4's quote was a goodie - I find that I make decisions all the time & this confirms that I am 'qualified' to make them. I used the pic of Katya for Day 6 as her blowing dandilion heads across the play area indicates this freedom & exploration of the world around. Watching her reminds me of the beauty & wonder al...
