Tea Towel Swap

Janine set up a fun tea towel swap. We all need them, why not have ones that look good! I love the parcel that arrived at my house today, loved the packaging (I love doilies), loved the teatowels - yes two of them, not just one! and a cool tea cup and strainer chain too. Such nice treats to open. I promptly used the cup on my return from work.
Below is what I sent. It's our eating that creates dishes...so I made a little 'afternoon delights' recipe book with a few of my favourite afternoon tea treats written in. I packaged it in baking paper and nested the gifts in a cake tin I picked up at the Salvation Army. I had to buy some sugar just so I could use the Pams sugar packaging for the recipe booklet.

Thanks heaps for a setting up a great swap Janine!

That is freaking awesome Lara. I know Julie loved it as she sent me an email before she headed off to conference. Wow weeeeee. Glad you loved your wee parcel, and I must admit when I was wrapping the cup in multiudes of layers to prevent it from being broken, I was almost tempted to keep it. There is something nice about new cups.....Have fun using those tea towels. BTW I liked your thinking on having gorgeous tea towels and using nice things...made me look at things differently.

And I so can't take photos of my goodies, cos I've devoured the choccie, oh well, never mind ... and mine weren't anywhere near as nicely wrapped as yours ... I used Christmas paper, thinking to myself, well it was just like Christmas, unwrapping goodies ... lol.

I would have eaten the chocolate too Michelle...even though I'm trying not to eat the sweet stuff, but that's a whole other blog. Christmas paper is such a cool idea. I love that we all had different takes on this swap!

Purging

The stuff can take over.  My stuff was covering my work surface and much of the bedroom floor.  I had to do a big sort out. I was brutal.   Stuff...ready to go. I packaged it in some storage totes I had that needed a new home (I’m waiting for my new CTMH travel system to arrive) and listed it on s local trading site.  It’s gone now. It doesn’t look pretty but I have a desk space and things are organised. The rest of my supplies now fit in this cupboard. Since the ‘purge’ I have had the space to create.  It feels good and it’s great to be able to get to my desk. A few pages made since the tidy up...and a box of 20 cards!

We went to Queens Park & the Museum/Art Gallery today & the Art Gallery Cafe served these cheese rolls -yum! Such a lower South Island thing - but soo good!

a catch up

Spent last night in Invers. We had a family dinner for dh's Nanny. We did a brief shop @ Farmers (none in the Wakatip) & went to Splash Palace this morning & BK for lunch (there's no BK here either!). Here are my 21 Challenge pages for the last three days. The hardest one was the Eleanor Roosevelt quote as I'm not sure what scares me - other than a lingering death while my children are still young, or one of them or dh being harmed in some way but even then I have a faith that gives me hope & assurance of a future. So I decided to apply this to my art or my creating - to try something new each day - even if it scares me. Day 4's quote was a goodie - I find that I make decisions all the time & this confirms that I am 'qualified' to make them. I used the pic of Katya for Day 6 as her blowing dandilion heads across the play area indicates this freedom & exploration of the world around. Watching her reminds me of the beauty & wonder al...
